The Whelen 4000 SERIES provides a minimum range of 1 mile radius to the 70 dB perimeter when calculated in accordance with FEMA's publication CPG 1-17.
The 4000 SERIES provides the SIX standard tones found in most electronic sirens. These are commonly referred to as; ALERT, ATTACK, WHOOP, AIR HORN, HI-LOW and NOON TEST. In addition the 4000 series has both digital and live voice broadcast, Silent Test and self diagnostics capabilities.
With the 4000 series you can have true Silent Test/diagnostics and have the system report back its operating condition. The units can be individually polled at any time requesting a status report. All units polled will then perform a full diagnostics test and report back the operational status giving a printout of the results generated for your records. Performing this operation insures that the system is maintained to it's peak performance level at all times.
The 4000 SERIES has a rotating sound head typically mounted on top of a telephone pole. The sound producing head of the 4000-4 has four speakers each being supplied with 400 watts of audio power. The sound producing head of the 4000-8 has eight speakers. Both of these heads and the speakers used are specifically designed for maximum efficiency at the lower frequencies used for this application. Following ANSI specifications, S12.14-1992, the 4000-4 design produces 126 dB of output sound and has a calculated range of 5,200 feet. The 4000-8 has a calculated range of 6,400 feet.
With the cost of installation being what it is, cost for installing a siren system to fit your application can be substantially reduced by using fewer high power units rather than using several smaller units to cover the same area.
As with all WHELEN products, the 4000 series can be utilized in conjunction with existing older model mechanical sirens and still have a common format of encoding the various commands.
