E-969 Encoder

The Whelen E-969 Encoder

Whelen systems use a high speed Dual Tone MultiFormat (DTMF) method of encoding. Because of the critical timing used in Whelen's encoding system, security is as great as any other system and better than most. DTMF methods allow for as few as one or as many as 10,000 unique addresses to be employed in any one system. This allows for single site operation, multiple site operation, zone addressing, multiple commands to the units and two way reporting of the units in the field.

The Whelen E-969 Encoder is ideal for larger systems where you have multiple units, 10 or more addresses. It can be used in conjunction with other Whelen model encoders or as a stand alone unit. It can be installed in mobiles allowing for a very flexible back up encoding site.

The 969 comes with 4 front panel buttons which are usually programmed as MACRO keys. They simulate any number of combinations of key strokes which perform the functions you desire.

In addition, the unit has two inputs in the back which are also programmable. We normally use these inputs for external, "panic", switches. One is programmed for the standard ALERT signal used for tornado warning and the other is programmed for CANCEL. This gives the dispatcher a point to sound the sirens in times of emergency by activation a single button well labeled for it's function.
